Basic Pinning
Prepping the First Piece
Looking at the pieces you want a strong join on, one usually has a nub and the other a socket. It's usually best to put the pin first into the piece with the nub. Here, we're working with a Hordes Blighted Legionare, and the nub is on the arm, with the socket in the shoulder, so we'll start working with the arm first.
Carefully using a hobby knife, cut the nub either down about half or completely off. The goal is to have a flat surface for the drill bit to bite into; without that, the bit will often skate across the surface and end up drilling a hole in the wrong place... like your finger.
Next, again using the hobby knife, carve a small guide hole in the center of where the nub was. To do this, just put the knife's point in to the center of the nub and twist it back and forth a few times. Now the bit will stay where you put it.
Now just drill out this hole for 1/8" of an inch or so. Make sure you drill straight into the piece, not at an angle.
